Ryukyuan and Okinawa History

The academic world needs a comprehensive general history of the Ryukyu Kingdom and Okinawa Prefecture in English that reflects the rich wealth of scholarship in this area that has flourished since the 1970s. I am often asked when I will get such a book or books written, and the answer is: not any time soon. I am in the midst of several monograph and article projects that will keep me busy for the next few years. But I will eventually get around to the general history project. In the meantime, whenever I get some preliminary work done in this area, I will post it here. Little, by little, the content of this part of the site will increase.
