
One attempt to illustrate the vague, and, in practice, often contradictory notion of "modernity." Despite its resistance to a clear, consistent definition, it is important for any student of history or sociology to grapple with the term. Why? Because "modernity" is potent rhetoric, which exerts an influence on our thoughts and can therefore lead to real-world political consequences.
