Above is a scroll painting entitled Benevolent and Wise Women. The version here is from the Song dynasty, but the original is attributed to the time between the Han and Tang dynasties. There is some overlap between the women depicted in this scroll and those featured in the Han-dynasty work Biographies of Exemplary Women.
