
Here are the eight immortals gathering near the Island of Penglai (more on Penglai soon). They float on the clouds. Notice on the jagged rock outcropping at the far right the mushroom/fungus of immortality. Bats fly above it. Why? Because in Chinese lore, bats are a symbol of longevity and good fortune. The main part of Penglai is to the left. Notice the pavilion. Below is another scene of the eight immortals at this pavilion.
